When does my eSIM plan start?
Your plan starts when your phone first connects to a supported network in a destination the plan covers.
Buying the plan or installing the Atli eSIM does not start it.
A plan that has not started within 30 days of purchase expires.
Can I buy and install my eSIM before my trip?
Yes. You can buy and install the Atli eSIM before travelling. Just remember that an unused plan expires if it has not started within 30 days of purchase.
Install on Wi-Fi before your trip so the eSIM is ready when you need it.
If your home destination or a stopover is covered by the plan, keep the Atli eSIM switched off until you are ready for the plan to start.
What happens if I don't use my plan within 30 days?
If the plan has not started within 30 days of purchase, it expires and can no longer be used.
How do I start my plan when I arrive?
For menu paths, see the iPhone setup guide and Android setup guide.
- 1Turn the Atli eSIM on.
- 2Choose Atli as your mobile-data line.
- 3Turn Data Roaming on for Atli.
- 4Turn Airplane Mode off and wait 2–3 minutes.
The plan starts when the phone connects to a supported network covered by the plan.
If it does not connect, turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then off again.
Do not delete the Atli eSIM while troubleshooting. If there is still no service, see No Service after landing.
When does a gifted plan start?
Claiming a gift does not start the plan.
The gift code must first be claimed by the date shown on the gift link. Once claimed, the plan follows the normal activation rule: it starts when the recipient's phone first connects to a supported network in a destination it covers.
For a gifted plan, the 30-day window to start the plan begins on the day the gift is claimed. See How do I buy an eSIM for someone else?.
FAQ
How do I know if my plan has started?
Type check data in Atli.
A plan that has started shows Time Left counting down to its expiry. A plan that has not started shows no countdown. See How much data do I have left?.
Can I get a refund for a plan that expired unused?
An unused plan expiring does not by itself qualify for a refund. See Payments & refunds for the current refund policy and eligibility rules.
I bought two plans that cover the same destination. When does the second one start?
If another applicable plan is already on your Atli eSIM, it can take over when the current plan ends.
The second plan still has its own 30-day start window from the day it was purchased, so do not buy it too early.
Does a stopover start my plan?
Yes, if the stopover is in a destination covered by the plan and your phone connects to a supported network there.
A Regional or Global plan can therefore start during a covered stopover. A stopover outside the plan's coverage does not start it.
Do Unlimited plans follow the same rule?
Yes. An Unlimited plan starts on the first supported network connection in a destination it covers. If it has not started within 30 days of purchase, it expires.
