Which phones support eSIM?
Many recent phones and tablets support eSIM, but compatibility can vary by exact model, region and carrier. Search your exact device below for the current answer.
Your device also needs to be carrier-unlocked.
Not listed? Dial *#06#. If an EID appears, your phone supports eSIM.

What does a device need to use Atli?
To use an Atli travel eSIM, your device must meet three requirements:
- eSIM support. The phone or tablet must have built-in eSIM hardware.
- Carrier-unlocked. The device must not be locked to a specific network carrier.
- Compatible exact model and variant. Hardware features depend on the specific regional version of your phone.
Two common points of confusion to keep in mind:
- Dual SIM is not always eSIM. Many dual-SIM devices have two physical nano-SIM card slots and no built-in eSIM chip.
- 5G does not mean eSIM. A phone can support 5G networks using physical SIM cards without having eSIM hardware.
Which iPhones support eSIM?
Most iPhone models released since 2018 (iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and all newer generations) include eSIM support. Starting with iPhone 14 in the United States, Apple removed the physical SIM tray entirely in favor of eSIM-only hardware.
Regional variations exist: most iPhone models manufactured for mainland China, as well as certain models sold in Hong Kong and Macao, feature two physical SIM slots instead of an eSIM.
Which Samsung Galaxy phones support eSIM?
Most flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Z devices support eSIM, including Galaxy S20 series and newer (except the S20 FE and S21 FE), along with Galaxy Fold and Z Flip models. Select Galaxy A-series models also include eSIM support in specific regions.
Samsung hardware varies by market: carrier-branded models and versions sold in certain parts of Asia may differ from international editions.
Which Google Pixel phones support eSIM?
Google Pixel phones from Pixel 4 onward generally support eSIM worldwide. A few early models or carrier-specific variants sold through select US or Japanese networks did not include eSIM functionality.
Which other Android phones support eSIM?
Many Android manufacturers include eSIM on flagship and mid-range devices, including Motorola, OnePlus, Nothing, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Honor. However, eSIM inclusion frequently depends on the exact regional variant and carrier configuration.
Budget models and regional editions often leave out eSIM hardware even when the global flagship includes it. Use the checker above to confirm your exact model number.
Why do regional variants matter?
Phone manufacturers frequently produce different hardware configurations under the exact same model name. For example, a phone sold in North America or Europe may include an eSIM, while the identical model name sold in another country might feature dual physical SIM trays without an eSIM chip.
To be certain, verify the model in the checker above or dial *#06# on your device to confirm an EID is present.
How do I check if my phone is carrier-unlocked?
Even if your device has an eSIM, it must also be carrier-unlocked to connect to local travel networks. A carrier-locked phone will reject eSIM profiles from other providers.
- iPhone: Go to Settings › General › About. Look for Carrier Lock (or Network Provider Lock). If it says No SIM restrictions, your iPhone is unlocked.
- Android: Contact your mobile provider to confirm whether your device is unlocked.
Only your original carrier can unlock your phone. Atli cannot remove a carrier lock.
Can I use Atli while keeping my own SIM?
Yes. Atli travel eSIMs are data-only and do not come with a phone number. If your phone supports Dual SIM, you can keep your primary physical SIM or regular eSIM active for calls, SMS and two-factor verification codes, while routing all mobile data through your Atli eSIM.
When traveling, simply set mobile data to Atli with data roaming enabled, and keep your regular SIM set for voice and text messages. Read full instructions in Can I use a travel eSIM with my own SIM?
Can I use Atli on tablets, smartwatches or laptops?
- Cellular tablets: Tablets with cellular hardware (Wi-Fi + Cellular) and built-in eSIM support can use an Atli plan, provided they are carrier-unlocked. Wi-Fi only tablets cannot install an eSIM.
- Wi-Fi tablets and laptops: Connect these devices by turning on personal hotspot on your phone.
- Smartwatches: Cellular smartwatches (like Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch) require companion number-sharing plans linked to your home mobile carrier. Standalone travel eSIMs are not supported on watches. Use Atli on your phone instead.
FAQ
Does every dual SIM phone have eSIM?
No. Many dual SIM phones use two physical nano-SIM slots rather than an eSIM. Always check your exact model before purchasing.
Can I get a refund if my phone doesn't support eSIM?
No. Incompatible and carrier-locked devices are not eligible for a refund under our policy. Please confirm your device supports eSIM before ordering. Read more in Payments and refunds.
Does my phone need a software update for eSIM?
Keeping your system software up to date helps eSIM work properly. On iPhone, features like direct in-chat installation require iOS 17.4 or later. Certain Android models have also added eSIM support through system updates.
Getting a new phone before your trip?
Install your Atli eSIM directly on the new phone, not your current one. Once installed, a travel eSIM cannot be transferred to another device. For details, see Can I reinstall my eSIM or move it to a new phone?
