Can I use one plan on two devices?
No. An Atli eSIM stays on the device where it is installed, so its plan cannot be used directly on two devices at the same time.
To get another device online, you can share the Atli connection by hotspot. If another person needs an independent connection, they need their own plan.
Why can't one eSIM work on two phones?
- The Atli eSIM stays on the device where it was installed.
- It cannot be transferred to or installed on another phone.
- Plans added to that Atli eSIM are used through that device.
How do I share Atli data with another device?
Turn on hotspot on the phone using Atli, then connect the other device to it like any other Wi-Fi network.
Atli must be the mobile-data line on the phone sharing the hotspot. Data used by connected devices comes from the same Atli plan. More in how to use a hotspot on a travel eSIM.
What if someone else needs their own connection?
- They buy their own plan. They can buy a plan for their own phone through Atli or the HeyAtli.com Store.
- You buy it as a gift. Choose their destination and plan, then tap 🎁 Share it at checkout. If a voucher makes the plan free, tap 🎁 Share it free. Send them the claim code, and they claim the gift in Atli on their own phone. See How do I buy an eSIM for someone else?.
A hotspot works well while you stay together. If you split up or move out of hotspot range, the other device loses that shared connection. More in Travelling as a family or group.
FAQ
Can I put a second plan on my partner's phone?
If the plan is for your partner's phone, buy it as a gift so they can claim it on their own phone. See How do I buy an eSIM for someone else?.
Does sharing by hotspot cost extra?
Atli does not charge a separate hotspot fee. Data used by connected devices comes from the same Atli plan allowance.
If the plan is Unlimited, hotspot use counts toward the same 3 GB high-speed allowance for that 24-hour period.
I got a new phone. Can I move my eSIM to it?
No. The Atli eSIM stays on the phone where it was installed and cannot be transferred to a different phone.
Any remaining data stays available on the old phone. If you still have that phone, you can use it or share its data by hotspot.
For the new phone, buy a new plan. That purchase comes with a new Atli eSIM to install on the new phone. See Deleted your eSIM or got a new phone?.
Can I install my Atli eSIM on a tablet instead of my phone?
Yes, if the tablet supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. See the device compatibility checker.
Choose the device before installing, because the Atli eSIM stays on the device where it is first installed.
